Arqa

Is village near Miniara in Akkar Governorate, Lebanon, 22 km northeast of Tripoli, near the coast.

The former bishopric became a double Catholic titular see (Latin and Maronite). The Roman Emperor Alexander Severus was born there. It is significant for the Tell Arqa, an archaeological site that goes back to Neolithic times, and during the Crusades there was a strategically significant castle.

Al Qoubaiyat

Al Qoubaiyat (Arabic: القبيات) is the biggest Christian village in Akkar Governorate, Lebanon. Its population is mostly composed of Maronites[1] numbering around 12,000 persons according to the civil state registers. It is usually full with people during summer but a few stay during the winter

Carmelite Fathers Munster

Qobayat’s Scientific Permanent Museum for Animals, Birds and Butterflies (Couvent St. Doumit, Des Pères Carmes, Qobayat, has amassed an impressive collection of 161 bird and 23 animal species from Lebanon, along with an encyclopedic 4,000-strong butterfly collection, from all over the world. The town’s long-abandoned silk factory, which closed its doors 1958, and the mansion of the Daher Family are fine testaments to the traditional architecture of the area.

Der Mar Challita

The Church of St. Shalita was a rick in the valley of Hasban in the region of Qubayat, until a woman who was overwhelmed by the illness of her son decided to warn her life to rebuild the church built on the ruins of a Roman temple. The heat of her faith was the motive to secure the restoration money, to keep the security men away and to demand the implementation of the law.
